künstler: Jacob Burck
titel: Socialist construction: Completion of the (Turksib) Railroad (and four other panels)
jahr: 1935
adresse: Art Students League, 215 W 57th St, New York
+: 5 movable panels, shown together with a group of murals of Edward Laning at the Art Students League. Burcks panels were originally destined for the offices of the Soviet travel agency Intourist in New York, then eventually shipped for its Mowcow branch and displayed at the shortly existing Museum of Modern Western Art and in Konstantin Melnikov's Kauchuk Factory Club at 64, Plyshikha Street in 1936. If the panels still exist, they might be in storage of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts which inherited a part of the named Museum of Modern Western Art.
The Wikipedia entry on Burck (basing on an article in The New York Times of Feb 10, 1935) states that the work wasn't completed and installed in the Intourist offices because of a requested adaptions of its content.
