biografische angaben: 1912–80. Schwab graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana in 1931, two years ahead of his class. He earned a master's degree in architecture and engineering from Armour Insstitute (now Illinois Institute of Technology), supporting himself as night watchman at the Curtis Candy Company. He worked for Chicago architect James Eppenstein, a firm that specialized in the design of offices, showrooms, stores, and restaurants, and usually designed the furniture as well as the interiors. He was friendly with Frank Lloyd Wright.
